About JH&H

JH&H has the ability to guide building projects from preliminary concepts through construction to owner occupancy. Architectural Design is a process that realizes the client’s goals and needs in built form through creative problem solving. We are privileged to provide a wide range of architectural and interior design services for a diverse client base that includes PK-12 Education, Higher Education, Sports Venues, Civic & Corporate, and Religious Clients. Our past experience has allowed the firm to gain expertise in these areas and finely tune our process to meet any architectural challenge.

Our firms is well versed in sustainable design practices and understands the importance these concepts play in today’s buildings. A Project’s efficiency, quality and environmental responsiveness can be significantly improved through sustainable design practices.

In 1964 two young architects named Don Jernigan and Bob Harrison formed a business partnership with Thad Hawkins, a civil/structural engineer. The founding partners began our inventive legacy with pioneering work in the design and delivery of Elderly Care Facilities across the Southeast. By 1980, their partnership expanded into a professional corporation with new Principals and a new name. JH&H Partnership became what is now known as JH&H Architects, Planners, Interiors, PA. Today, the three-man business venture has expanded into a 30-person, multi-disciplined firm, led by a president who started at JH&H as an intern in 1976. For 50 years, in over 1,000 projects, we have enriched our local and regional communities with original, integrated design services. We are eager to continue this merger of tradition and innovation.

A building the size of St. Anthony takes an extraordinary amount of detail in the schematic plan. You showed great attention to detail and engineered the project through every phase with smooth sailing.

Michael Flannery, Pastor — St. Francis of Assisi Church

Your firm was a good partner during and after the entire process—assisting the district in navigating our largest building program on record—with campus and building design standards, design services, and building program management. We appreciate the flexibility, availability, responsiveness, and constant communication you and your staff members provided.

Shane Sanders, Deputy Superintendent — Rankin County School District

JH&H’s professionals have been instrumental in navigating the typical impediments that surface during large construction projects, always accessible to meet with, and listen carefully to, stakeholders and end-users. We have been appreciative of the consistent and frequent updates we receive, as well as the ready accessibility of your team and its responsiveness to quickly address issues or challenges that arise.

Laura Oster, County Adminstrator — Rankin County Board of Supervisors

Throughout the project their drawings were clear and accurately represented their design intentions. They were responsive when any issues arose, as they always do with such complex projects, and were willing to prioritize finding a quick and effective solution when circumstances were time sensitive. We are looking forward to our next opportunity to collaborate on a project with JH&H and are positive it will produce just as great of a result as this one did.

Jamie Fountain, Project Manager — Fountain Construction Company

We have been particularly impressed by JH&H’s dedication to ensuring that our renovation projects meet the needs and expectations of our school community. Their proactive approach and innovative solutions have resulted in successful outcomes that have greatly enhanced our facilities.

Kyle Hammond, Superindendent — Attala County School District
